Sound design, editing and foley
A beautiful film by venezuelan director Lorena Alvarado in which I had the honour to do the sound work. From its concept and design to its assembly, editing and foley.
It premiered at FID Marseille, 2024.
Produced by La Mala Films, Discordia and Omnes Films.
HORMIGA
Songwriting, production and mixing
Recordatorio is my music project. This is the place for me to experiment as a songwriter, producer and mixer. Hormiga was the first single from Recordatorio’s album Lógica resbalosa. It was co-produced with Heberto Añez Novoa and recorded in Caracas at Remoto Studio. Enjoy the video that Adolfo Bueno made for it.
La Causa
Film scoring
I composed, produced and mixed this score with Leo Aldrey at Audiobend Studio in Barcelona. The documentary is a mind blowing look inside Venezuelan prisons and crime life. It premiered as part of the official selection at IDFA and won Best Documentary at Festival de Cine Venezolano.
You can watch the full documentary on iTunes and Amazon Prime.
Directed by Andrés Figueredo.
Produced by Capitolio.
CHORO
Music production and mixing
This was a fun one! The creator of the game, Carl Zitelmann, asked me to compose a version of Estoy afuera, sal (a song I wrote for my band Americania) in 8-bit. He wanted it to sound like an old video game. Every sound was created from scratch with Logic synth ES2, then I added a few more layers with the Pocket Piano.
Los Viajes Platónicos
Music production and sound design
The score for this film was composed by Héctor Tosta and we recorded and mixed it in my home studio in Caracas. The entire soundtrack is a combination of space-like sounds (made mostly with the Juno 106 synth) with more acoustic and earthy textures, as you can hear in this sequence I’m sharing here.
Directed by José Ostos.
El Cuento de Jonja
Mixing
Thanks to Javier García for trusting me to mix this beautiful album. It’s filled with great songs and an impeccable production. The mix approach was to give a rough character to the sound without losing the clarity and sharpness of the recording. Enjoy the ride with headphones.
Cinema Juno
Mixing
I had a blast mixing these indie/pop gems. Thanks to Coringta for trusting me with their debut EP. There were lots of elements, so I was careful in finding the right place for everything. A big part of the work was identifying the parts that should stand out in each moment to highlight the emotion and dance feeling of the songs. If you like Parcels, Jungle, La Vida Boheme, Arctic Monkeys, Bandalos Chinos… this might be for you.
FUGAZ
Music production
A song by Chesko featuring SHEISA. This is the third single out of Chesko's debut album which I produced. We recorded it in Mexico City between friend’s rooms and recording studios (La Bestia and Honky Tonk). There were a lot of collaborations from different musicians around the world, which was great but also a challenge to bring them all together without losing sight of the heart of the songs.
La Fiesta Del Rey Drama
Songwritting
This is the second album from my band Americania. I wrote tracks 1 (with Italo Pizzolante), 2, 3, 4 ((w/IP), 6, 7, 9 (w/IP) and 10. We started the band as a trio: drums, bass and guitar. But for this album we had no fixed roles and no limitation in the instrumentation, we rotated depending on each song. It was recorded, produced and mixed by Héctor Castillo in Brooklyn, NY.
Tomas Verdes
Songwriting, production and mixing
I wanted to close my sound portfolio with this one, my most recent work with Recordatorio. Recorded and produced at Casa Luke Studio in Barcelona by the hand of two great sound and music allies whom I love, admire and be forever thankful: José Ignacio Benítez and Rafael Giner.
